The facts, as the documents state them.

Why stewardship matters

Shared responsibilities can't live on one person's laptop.

Foundational software needs continuity. Signing keys, infrastructure, trademarks, funds and decision records have to outlast any single contributor — and be held accountably.

The Foundation holds the legal and fiscal responsibilities; it does not decide the engineering.

Magogi Foundation is incorporated as a Washington nonprofit. Federal 501(c)(3) recognition is pending and the application has not yet been filed, so gifts are not deductible today.

What the Foundation holds

Each responsibility, with the state it is actually in.

  • A trademark filing is planned; nothing is registered yet.
  • Signing keys are held by the Foundation. Nothing published yet lets an outsider verify a signature, so this page claims no more than custody.
  • The Foundation runs its own build, package and logging infrastructure.

Tax status

Federal 501(c)(3) recognition is pending, and the application has not yet been filed. Donations are not tax-deductible today, and this site will not say otherwise before the determination letter exists. An employer identification number is an identifier the IRS assigns; it is not tax-exempt status, and this site does not treat it as one.

How funds are used

Funds go to grants and contractor payments for open-source work, to community operations, and to the shared infrastructure the fleet runs on. Administrative overhead is kept minimal, and restricted donations are tracked separately. No public donation drive is running today — the support that is open is described on the support page.

Governance

The Foundation is governed by its nonprofit board. Beyond that, the engineering runs on an evidence-gated discipline: significant changes walk the same path, and the path has gates that are able to fail. Claims are checked by tools wherever a tool can check them. The honest-state record of what exists today lives on the status page.
